Madison Logo Design

Each and every new Madison venture realizes that they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely realize the key role their company logo can make in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Madison companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Madison coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the town and wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by means of creating a sign concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Madison medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun center in Madison.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Madison traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Madison logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Madison logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Madison publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most necessary part of a published book considering that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was surely a victory.

Madison logo design used for advertising as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance includes an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Madison, design include an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which projected a spirit of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software application designer the layout features as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Progress logo design created for a Madison indoor developer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Madison business logo dsign with an image that pulls in the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really developed for an Madison area farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this particular logo was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to make a graphic that projects self-confidence, financial success, and affluence.
Logo created for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
