Birmingham Logo Design

Each and every new Birmingham organization knows they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners entirely comprehend the crucial role their company logo can play in their financial success, or why one logo performs far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining influence on the financial success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Birmingham companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand scrutiny, they can be realized in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Birmingham coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the city and really wanted to cast a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks via developing a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria made for Birmingham clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable center in Birmingham.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Birmingham traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Birmingham logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Birmingham logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Birmingham book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences one of the things folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Birmingham logo design used for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Birmingham, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that virtually every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that conveyed a spirit of tranquility and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is in most cases the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo layout for a software application developer the design attributes and iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Birmingham logo dsign with a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t really developed for an Birmingham area farm it was in reality created for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to create a graphic that projects confidence, success, and opulence.
Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to develop a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
