Florence Logo Design

Nearly every new Florence company understands that they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly comprehend the vital role their business logo will play in their success, or the reason that one logo works more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and long term impact on the prosperity of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Florence companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Florence coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an old section of the city and really wanted to visualize a retro tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs via designing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs made for Florence medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable center in Florence.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Florence travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Florence logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Florence logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of obstacles, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Florence book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most necessary part of a printed book given that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it seems that in many instances one of the things folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Florence logo style used for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Case features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Florence, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that related an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo design for a software developer the style features and renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Florence logo dsign along with an image that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t actually created for an Florence regional farm it was really created for a products broker, and this company logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projected self-confidence, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
