Foley Logo Design

Every new Foley business realizes that they require a logo, but few new business owners fully understand the crucial role their logo design can play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design performs better than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting influence on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Foley businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand consideration, they can be realized in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Foley coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an old part of the city and wished to cast a nostalgic tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished each of the jobs by creating a trademark concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Foley medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun center in Foley.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - created for Foley travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Foley logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Foley logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Foley publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it looks like that in many occurrences one of the things people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was surely a victory.

Foley logo style made use of for advertising and a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an archaic font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Foley, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it appears that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which conveyed a spirit of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software application designer the layout attributes and also renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Foley logo design dsign along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really designed for an Foley area farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to develop a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and luxury.
Logo design made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
