Selma Logo Design

Nearly every new Selma business realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully comprehend the vital role their logo design can take in their success, or why one business logo works better than another. A business logo has a critical and long term effect on the growth of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Selma businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand consideration, they can be realized in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Selma coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an older section of the area and really wanted to cast a nostalgic feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by creating a company logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria designed for Selma medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable center in Selma.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Selma travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Selma logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Selma logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their business logo understand how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Selma publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most critical part of a published book considering that it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many cases one of the traits people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Selma logo layout utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance features an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Selma, layout include an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it seems that virtually every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that carried a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application designer the style functions and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Progress logo style created for a Selma interior developer, layout feature a series of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Selma business logo dsign utilizing an illustration which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually composed for an Selma regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this trademark was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce an identity that projected confidence, effectiveness, and opulence.
Logo created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is evocative a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
