Anchorage Logo Design

Every new Anchorage business understands that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully comprehend the vital role their logo design can take in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining impact on the growth of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Anchorage businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Anchorage coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old part of the city and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by developing a custom logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Anchorage clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable facility in Anchorage.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Anchorage traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Anchorage logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Anchorage logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of challenges, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Anchorage book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Anchorage logo style utilized for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Case features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Anchorage, layout include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design which carried an atmosphere of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application designer the design functions as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Anchorage logo dsign utilizing a graphic that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really designed for an Anchorage regional farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to develop a image that projected self-assurance, success, and luxury.
Logo created for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
