Alhambra Logo Design

Every new Alhambra venture knows they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully recognize the key role their company logo can make in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting impact on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Alhambra companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Alhambra coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of the town and wanted to cast a retro vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by creating a sign concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Alhambra clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun facility in Alhambra.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Alhambra travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Alhambra logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Alhambra logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job has it’s portion of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Alhambra publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Alhambra logo layout made use of for advertising as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Alhambra, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it seems that almost every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo that conveyed a feeling of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is in most cases the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo design for a software program designer the style features and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Alhambra logo dsign with an image which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually created for an Alhambra area farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to produce a graphic that projects esteem, success, and wealth.
Logo designed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is evocative a famous sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
