Flagstaff, Arizona Logo Design

Virtually every new Flagstaff venture understands that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully recognize the vital role their logo can make in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design works more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting impact on the prosperity of a business, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Flagstaff, Arizona businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Flagstaff, Arizona coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an old section of the town and wished to project a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by means of creating a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria developed for Flagstaff, Arizona medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Flagstaff, Arizona traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Flagstaff logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Flagstaff logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get impartial judgements on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Flagstaff, Arizona publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a printed book because it is often the first thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many cases one of the items consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to confering a good sense of flight and it was surely a success.

Flagstaff logo design made use of for marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Case features an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Flagstaff, Arizona, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really really love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which projected an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian horse logo layout created for an equine ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct logotype design fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having a different head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable horse types in the entire world.

Las Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, layout contains a changed script typeface which hovers over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, style includes a modified manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the style functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Flagstaff logo dsign using an illustration that grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually composed for an Flagstaff, Arizona regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this business logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to make a image that projected confidence, financial success, and wealth.

Flagstaff Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
