Marana, Arizona Logo Design

Each and every new Marana organization understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely recognize the essential role their organization logo will make in their becoming successful, or why one logo performs better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting influence on the success of a business, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Marana, Arizona businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand deliberation, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Marana, Arizona coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening up in an old section of the city and wished to visualize an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved the two jobs via developing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Marana, Arizona medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog developed for a family fun facility in Marana, Arizona.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Marana, Arizona travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marana logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Marana logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get honest judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of hurdles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Marana, Arizona book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most important part of a printed book given that it is often the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to confering a good sense of flight and it was surely a victory.

Marana logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Instance features an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Marana, Arizona, design include an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that conveyed a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is frequently the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application programmer the layout attributes as well as famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Marana logo design dsign with a graphic that seizes the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really designed for an Marana, Arizona regional farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this business logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to develop a graphic that projected confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

Marana Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for externally encountering arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first try.

Logo developed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
