STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real world examples chances are they will not be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Marana LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds cultivate memorable brands. We have done brand identity design work for farmers, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as though it will be utilized as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are retained to perform, we do ourselves. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s projects to contractors based outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your project and dictates the terms of how my customers and I do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Marana organization knows they require a logo, however few start ups thoroughly recognize the essential role their logo design can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term effect on the growth of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Marana companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates practically anything with a motive, whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are all from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the names Ferrari or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the beginning of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded advertising and marketing agencies. When somebody claims they are in marketing many people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when someone states “I am in branding”… it simply sounds more impressive, probably it’s since lots of people do not know what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that defines the visual components of a product or agency that affect understandings. This largely consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors utilized yet can additionally consist of audio, lights, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some identity designers also design sites and user interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, results as well as perceptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Marana coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older part of town and hoped to project a vintage vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Marana clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household fun facility in Marana.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Marana travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marana logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Marana logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design comprehend how vital a logo is for their organization so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Marana publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a published book since it is in most cases the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the items people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Marana logo style used for marketing and a label design for Vintage Situation includes an archaic font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Marana, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it appears that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design produced for a Marana hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that communicated a feeling of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is generally the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style created for a horse ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct logo design styled to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a different head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Marana Coffee shop logo layout a little restaurant, style includes a modified script font which hovers above a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small dining establishment, style contains a modified script typeface which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software developer the style features as well as renowned Marana component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Evolve logo design developed for a Maranainterior designer, style function a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Marana interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Marana, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have been customized to tie straight into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Marana logo design project was done for a management specialist that aids business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Marana business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Marana business logo design using a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Marana company logo layout has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Marana area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this particular brand was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce a image that projects assurance, success, and opulence.

Marana Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design created for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a well-known Marana sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
