STRATEGIES ON FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real life examples odds are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Alhambra LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds develop unforgettable brand identities. We have undertaken branding work for mechanics, universities, heart surgeons, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you probably have found in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the type of design project we accept, brand identity design, website design, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s projects to agencies located outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the price of your project and dictates the terms of how we conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Alhambra organization understands that they require a logo, but few start-ups entirely recognize the pivotal role their business logo can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a business, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Alhambra companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something to ensure that it can be distinguished, its foundation originates from the brand burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand symbolizes pretty much anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody mentions the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of many branding firms you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing agencies. When somebody says they are in advertising most people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. But when a person claims “I’m in branding”… it just sounds much more attractive, maybe it’s because many people don’t understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that influence understandings. This mostly consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used yet can additionally consist of sound, illumination, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites and software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, outcomes and perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Alhambra coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an older section of town and hoped to visualize a nostalgic feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via designing a logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Alhambra medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family fun center in Alhambra.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Alhambra travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Alhambra logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Alhambra logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest assessments on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design realize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of challenges, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Alhambra publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many instances one of the traits folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Alhambra logo style used for advertising and marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Alhambra, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a Alhambra hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which projected a spirit of relaxation and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is frequently the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo layout created for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind custom logo concept tailored to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having a different head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Alhambra restaurant logo style a small dining establishment, style contains a modified script font which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little restaurant, style includes a customized manuscript font which floats above a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the style features and also iconic Alhambra component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Evolve logo layout produced for a Alhambraindoor developer, design attribute a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Alhambra interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Alhambra, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have actually been changed to connect directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Alhambra logo design job was undertaken for a management expert that assists business professionals to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Alhambra business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Alhambra business logo design along with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Alhambra company logo design has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t actually created for an Alhambra area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to create a graphic that projected confidence, success, and wealth.

Alhambra Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a popular Alhambra sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
