STRATEGIES ON FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real world samples chances are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Atascadero LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping business owners cultivate notable brands. We’ve performed brand identity design work for builders, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, bistros, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as though it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are brought on board to do, we do in-house. No matter the kind of design project we accept, brand identity design, website, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to agencies located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Atascadero company knows they need a logo, but few start-ups fully realize the crucial role their organization’s logo can play in their success, or why one business logo functions better than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting influence on the growth of a company, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Atascadero companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need consideration, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of noting something to ensure that it can be distinguished, its foundation comes from the brand burned onto livestock. These days a brand represents practically anything with a motive, whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the beginning of many branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing firms. When somebody says they are in advertising the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites and also user interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of affecting activities, outcomes and perceptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Atascadero coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older section of the area and hoped to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by means of designing a symbol design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Atascadero medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable center in Atascadero.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Atascadero travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Atascadero logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Atascadero logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s share of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Atascadero book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems like that in many instances one of the traits people usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Atascadero logo layout utilized for marketing and a label design for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Atascadero, design include an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that each and every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a Atascadero hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that conveyed a spirit of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather designed a company logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a horse ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original creative logo design fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With an identifiable head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily identifiable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Atascadero restaurant logo layout a small restaurant, layout consists of a changed manuscript font which hovers over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny restaurant, design includes a modified manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the design attributes and renowned Atascadero aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Develop logo layout developed for a Atascaderointerior designer, design function a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Atascadero interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, explores, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Atascadero, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words advanced have actually been customized to tie directly into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Atascadero logo design project was completed for a leadership coach that enables business leaders to become more efficient at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Atascadero business logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Atascadero logo design design with an illustration which pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Atascadero company logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually designed for an Atascadero area farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projected assurance, financial success, and luxury.

Atascadero Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design designed for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a popular Atascadero sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
