Azusa, California Logo Design

Every new Azusa organization knows they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully realize the vital role their business logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo performs far better than another. A logo has a critical and long term impact on the success of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Azusa, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Azusa, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an old part of the area and wished to project an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs by means of creating a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria designed for Azusa, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Azusa, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Azusa, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Azusa logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Azusa logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of challenges, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Azusa, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the items people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Azusa logo design used for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Azusa, California, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which conveyed a sense of relaxation and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is generally the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little dining establishment, design includes a customized script font which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the layout functions and also renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Azusa logo design dsign with an image that pulls in the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really created for an Azusa, California regional farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this company was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to develop a graphic that projects trust, success, and opulence.

Azusa Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design developed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
