Bakersfield, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Bakersfield business knows they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly realize the essential role their logo will perform in their financial success, or why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and long term impact on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Bakersfield, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Bakersfield, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an old part of the community and wanted to project a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved the two jobs via creating a trademark design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Bakersfield, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Bakersfield, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Bakersfield, California travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bakersfield logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Bakersfield logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job has it’s share of hurdles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Bakersfield, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a printed book considering that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many instances 1 of the items individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Bakersfield logo style used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Bakersfield, California, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it seems that every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that conveyed an atmosphere of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather delivered a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is frequently the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software developer the style features and renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Bakersfield logo design dsign using an illustration which captures the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Bakersfield, California area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to design a brand mark that projected confidence, financial success, and wealth.

Bakersfield Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is similar to a well-known sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to design a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
