TIPS FOR PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design company presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature actual examples chances are they won’t be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Carmichael LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish memorable brand identities. We have done brand design work for builders, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as though it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first approach insures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or web headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have encountered online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to do, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of project we undertake, business logo, business website, trade show exhibition, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s projects to contractors located outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the price of your project and dictates the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Carmichael organization realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups entirely realize the essential role their organization’s logo can perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo functions better than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term impact on the prosperity of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Carmichael companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its genesis originates from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand indicates virtually anything with a motive, regardless if it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are all from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target audience, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone says the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding agencies you’ll discover that they are often rebranded marketing agencies. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when somebody claims “I’m in branding”… it just seems more impressive, probably it’s due to the fact that most people don’t recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that influence perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the different colors utilized but can also consist of sound, lights, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results as well as assumptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Carmichael coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an old section of the town and hoped to project a retro tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by developing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Carmichael clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory assessment of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable center in Carmichael.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Carmichael travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Carmichael logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Carmichael logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design recognize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s portion of hurdles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Carmichael publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a published book considering that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was definitely a success.

Carmichael logo design used for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Carmichael, style include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it appears that almost every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Carmichael hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that carried a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious path of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct logo design tailored to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Carmichael Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, style contains a customized manuscript typeface which floats above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software application designer the layout functions and renowned Carmichael component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the significance behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Progress logo style created for a Carmichaelindoor designer, style attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Carmichael interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Carmichael, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of words progressed have been customized to connect straight right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Carmichael logo design project was completed for a leadership advisor that enables business leaders to develop into more efficient at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Carmichael business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Carmichael logo design utilizing a graphic which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Carmichael company logo design has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really composed for an Carmichael area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this particular brand was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projected confidence, effectiveness, and wealth.

Carmichael Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for externally dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a renowned Carmichael sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
