Ceres, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Ceres organization knows they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely recognize the vital role their organization’s logo can perform in their financial success, or why one logo design functions better than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining influence on the success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Ceres, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.
Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Ceres, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older section of the city and hoped to project an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by means of developing a sign design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs designed for Ceres, California clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Ceres, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for Ceres, California traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ceres logo but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Ceres logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design recognize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of obstacles, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Ceres, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a published book given that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Ceres logo style utilized for advertising and also a label design for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Ceres, California, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that communicated a spirit of relaxation and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program developer the layout functions and famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Ceres logo dsign with an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Ceres Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for externally facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo made for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is evocative a popular sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
