Cerritos, California Logo Design

Virtually every new Cerritos business knows they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the vital role their logo will play in their success, or the reason that one logo design performs far better than another. A business logo has an instant and long term influence on the growth of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Cerritos, California companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand consideration, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Cerritos, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older part of the town and really wanted to cast a retro atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via creating a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs designed for Cerritos, California clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog created for a family members enjoyable center in Cerritos, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Cerritos, California traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cerritos logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Cerritos logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo understand how crucial a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Cerritos, California book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the items individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Cerritos logo layout used for advertising and also a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Cerritos, California, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that communicated a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious path of making simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo style for a software application programmer the layout functions and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Cerritos business logo dsign with an illustration that captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually created for an Cerritos, California area farm it was actually developed for an investments broker, and this brand was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to produce a brand mark that projects esteem, success, and opulence.

Cerritos Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style feature for externally facing arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
