Concord, California Logo Design

Every new Concord venture understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly understand the crucial role their logo design will play in their success, or exactly why one business logo works better than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term effect on the growth of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Concord, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Concord, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an older section of the community and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks via creating a company logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Concord, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a household fun facility in Concord, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Concord, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Concord logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Concord logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo comprehend how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Concord, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most necessary part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many instances one of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was surely a success.

Concord logo style used for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an old typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Concord, California, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that each and every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which related a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo style for a software program programmer the layout attributes as well as famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Concord logo design dsign using an illustration that pulls in the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually created for an Concord, California regional farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this particular logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create a graphic that projects assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Concord Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to create a logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
