Cupertino, California Logo Design

Each and every new Cupertino organization knows they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully recognize the key role their business logo can take in their becoming successful, or why one logo performs better than another. A business logo has an instant and long term impact on the growth of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Cupertino, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Cupertino, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older part of town and hoped to visualize a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both jobs by means of designing a sign concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Cupertino, California clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household fun facility in Cupertino, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Cupertino, California traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cupertino logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Cupertino logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Cupertino, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a published book given that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences one of the things folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Cupertino logo style used for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Cupertino, California, layout include an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which related a spirit of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but rather designed a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the feeling that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo design for a software designer the layout functions and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Cupertino logo dsign using an image that pulls in the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really created for an Cupertino, California regional farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to develop a image that projected esteem, financial success, and wealth.

Cupertino Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is evocative a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
