Daly City, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Daly City business professional realizes that they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely realize the vital role their company logo will take in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo functions better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long-term effect on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Daly City, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to movie screens a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Daly City, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an older section of the community and hoped to project a vintage feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by means of creating a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria made for Daly City, California clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family members fun facility in Daly City, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Daly City, California traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Daly City logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Daly City logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Daly City, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most crucial part of a printed book since it is usually the initial thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Daly City logo layout used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Daly City, California, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which projected a spirit of simplicity and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo design for a software developer the design functions and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell off their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Daly City logo dsign utilizing an illustration which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually produced for an Daly City, California area farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to design a brand mark that projected trust, financial success, and affluence.

Daly City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo designed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is evocative a well-known sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
