East Palo Alto Logo Design

Every new East Palo Alto company knows they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully understand the vital role their logo will make in their becoming successful, or why one logo performs better than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the growth of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help East Palo Alto companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be realized in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a East Palo Alto coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an older section of the area and hoped to visualize a vintage tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by developing a symbol concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for East Palo Alto clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household fun center in East Palo Alto.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for East Palo Alto traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  East Palo Alto logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

East Palo Alto logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the value of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for East Palo Alto publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most vital part of a printed book because it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it looks like that in many instances 1 of the things consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

East Palo Alto logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in East Palo Alto, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it seems that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that related a sense of ease and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the importance on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program designer the style features and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their East Palo Alto business logo dsign utilizing an image which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually developed for an East Palo Alto regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this company was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce a graphic that projected assurance, financial success, and luxury.
Logo design made for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a well-known sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
