TIPS ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not reimburse the amount of time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be evaluated from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain actual examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Hermosa Beach LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand identity design work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee roasters, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might possibly have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to perform, we do ourselves. Regardless of the kind of design project we take on, logo, website design, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Hermosa Beach organization understands that they require a logo, however few start ups entirely comprehend the crucial role their company logo will play in their financial success, or the reason that one business logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting influence on the prosperity of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Hermosa Beach businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to ensure that it can be identified, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand represents basically anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the history of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are often rebranded marketing firms. When someone says they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when somebody states “I’m in branding”… it simply seems more impressive, probably it’s due to the fact that many people don’t fully understand what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or company that affect understandings. This largely includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the colors used yet can additionally consist of audio, lighting, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop websites and software interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results and also perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Hermosa Beach coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an old section of the city and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks via creating a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Hermosa Beach medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household fun facility in Hermosa Beach.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Hermosa Beach traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hermosa Beach logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Hermosa Beach logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how important a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Hermosa Beach book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is usually the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the things individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Hermosa Beach logo layout used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case includes an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Hermosa Beach, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design produced for a Hermosa Beach hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which conveyed a feeling of relaxation and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design developed for an equine ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique logotype design fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. With an unique head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Hermosa Beach Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, layout includes a customized manuscript font which floats over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a little restaurant, layout contains a changed manuscript typeface which hovers over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application designer the layout functions as well as legendary Hermosa Beach aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo layout produced for a Hermosa Beachinterior developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Hermosa Beach interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, investigates, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Hermosa Beach, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have been changed to connect directly right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Hermosa Beach logo design job was performed for a management coach that helps business leaders to develop into more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Hermosa Beach business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Hermosa Beach logo design using a graphic that seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Hermosa Beach company logo style has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Hermosa Beach area farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this particular creative logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a brand mark that projected confidence, effectiveness, and prosperity.

Hermosa Beach Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style feature for outwardly facing arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo designed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known Hermosa Beach sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
