Huntington Beach, California Logo Design

Each and every new Huntington Beach business person realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully grasp the vital role their business logo will perform in their success, or exactly why one logo design functions far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining impact on the success of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Huntington Beach, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be enduring and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo design of a bike created for a Huntington Beach, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older section of town and hoped to cast a nostalgic tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks via developing a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Huntington Beach, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a jumping green frog created for a household enjoyable center in Huntington Beach, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Huntington Beach, California traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they often convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Huntington Beach logo design but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Huntington Beach logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased opinions on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Huntington Beach, California book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a printed book given that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many cases 1 of the traits individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Huntington Beach logo layout used for advertising and marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Huntington Beach, California, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that almost every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which conveyed an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo design for a software programmer the style features as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Huntington Beach logo design dsign along with an image which seizes the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really produced for an Huntington Beach, California regional farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this brand was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to generate an identity that projects trust, financial success, and opulence.

Huntington Beach Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo designed for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
