Isla Vista Logo Design

Nearly every new Isla Vista company realizes that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely understand the vital role their logo design will take in their success, or exactly why one logo design functions far better than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting impact on the growth of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Isla Vista businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Isla Vista coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an old section of the town and really wanted to project a vintage tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by means of developing a company logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria developed for Isla Vista medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable center in Isla Vista.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Isla Vista traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Isla Vista logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Isla Vista logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo comprehend how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Isla Vista book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the things consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a feeling of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Isla Vista logo style made use of for marketing and a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Isla Vista, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that related a feeling of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a steed ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original organization logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an identifiable head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design functions and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Advance logo layout developed for a Isla Vista interior designer, style feature a series of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Isla Vista logo dsign with an image that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t actually designed for an Isla Vista area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to design an identity that projected trust, effectiveness, and wealth.
Logo created for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
