La Mesa, California Logo Design

Every new La Mesa organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully comprehend the crucial role their logo design can make in their financial success, or why one logo works far better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting effect on the viability of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help La Mesa, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike developed for a La Mesa, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an old section of the area and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by designing a custom logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and germs created for La Mesa, California clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the clinical examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun center in La Mesa, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for La Mesa, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  La Mesa logo design but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

La Mesa logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased assessments on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design recognize how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for La Mesa, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book because it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many cases 1 of the things people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

La Mesa logo layout used for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in La Mesa, California, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that each and every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which carried a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style attributes as well as iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their La Mesa business logo dsign along with an illustration that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually created for an La Mesa, California regional farm it was really created for a products broker, and this company was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. La Mesa Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is reminiscent of a famous sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to design a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
