La Quinta, California Logo Design

Every new La Quinta company understands that they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners entirely realize the key role their logo design can take in their success, or exactly why one logo design performs better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining influence on the success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help La Quinta, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a La Quinta, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an older section of the area and wanted to cast a vintage vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs via designing a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs made for La Quinta, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun center in La Quinta, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for La Quinta, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  La Quinta logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

La Quinta logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo understand how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for La Quinta, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a published book because it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it looks like that in many cases 1 of the traits consumers usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

La Quinta logo layout made use of for advertising and also a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in La Quinta, California, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects because it appears that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really really love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which communicated a feeling of tranquility and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application developer the layout functions and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their La Quinta logo design dsign utilizing a graphic that pulls in the interest of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really developed for an La Quinta, California area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this creative logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to make an identity that projects esteem, success, and opulence.

La Quinta Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for externally facing arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
