STRATEGIES ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t refund the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real life samples chances are they will not be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Lathrop LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate notable brand identities. We have performed branding work for builders, colleges, diamond miners, party planners, cafes, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first method our designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have encountered online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to do, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of project we take on, brand identity design, web page, trade show exhibition, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s work to 3rd parties located outside the USA. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Lathrop entrepreneur knows they require a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly understand the vital role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lathrop companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need contemplation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of noting something so that it could be recognized, its foundation originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates virtually anything with an objective, whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone mentions the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the origin of the majority of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded advertising firms. When somebody states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person claims “I am in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, probably it’s since most individuals do not fully understand what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual elements of a product or agency that influence perceptions. This primarily consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors utilized yet can likewise consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop websites and also software interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, end results and also understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Lathrop coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old part of the city and wished to visualize a vintage feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished each of the jobs via designing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Lathrop medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog made for a family members enjoyable facility in Lathrop.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Lathrop traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lathrop logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lathrop logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective point of views on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Lathrop book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the traits people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Lathrop logo design used for marketing and a tag design for Vintage Instance features an old font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Lathrop, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it seems that every single dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a Lathrop hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that communicated a spirit of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a business logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo style produced for an equine ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind logo concept fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Lathrop restaurant logo design a small dining establishment, style consists of a changed manuscript font which floats over a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little dining establishment, design contains a changed manuscript font which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the layout functions and also renowned Lathrop component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Develop logo style created for a Lathropinterior developer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lathrop interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who prepares, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lathrop, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words advanced have actually been customized to tie straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Lathrop logo design job was completed for a management coach that enables business leaders to develop into more effective at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Lathrop business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Lathrop logo design design along with an image which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Lathrop company logo layout has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t really designed for an Lathrop area farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this brand was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to create a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and wealth.

Lathrop Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly encountering arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a well-known Lathrop sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
