Long Beach, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Long Beach business knows they require a logo, however few new business owners entirely realize the key role their company logo will take in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo functions better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term influence on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Long Beach, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo design of a bike created for a Long Beach, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an older section of the community and wanted to cast an old-fashioned feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by creating a sign concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Long Beach, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Long Beach, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for Long Beach, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Long Beach logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Long Beach logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest point of views on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of hurdles, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Long Beach, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a printed book considering that it is often the very first thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems like that in many cases 1 of the traits people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Long Beach logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Case features an antiquated typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Long Beach, California, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that carried an atmosphere of ease and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious route of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software application designer the style functions and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to sell their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Long Beach logo design dsign utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually designed for an Long Beach, California regional farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this logo was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a brand mark that projected confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

Long Beach Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
