Los Altos, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Los Altos business professional understands that they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully realize the pivotal role their company logo can make in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design performs more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and long term impact on the prosperity of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Los Altos, California businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Los Altos, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an old part of the town and wanted to visualize a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Los Altos, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Los Altos, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Los Altos, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Los Altos logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Los Altos logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s portion of hurdles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Los Altos, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Los Altos logo style utilized for advertising and a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Los Altos, California, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which carried a feeling of ease and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the attention on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo design for a software program developer the style features as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Los Altos business logo dsign using an illustration which grabs the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is similar to a renowned sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
