Los Altos Logo Design

Each and every new Los Altos company understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners fully recognize the key role their logo design will perform in their success, or why one logo works better than another. A company logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Los Altos businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Los Altos coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an older part of town and wanted to cast a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of designing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs designed for Los Altos medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a jumping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable facility in Los Altos.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Los Altos traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Los Altos logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Los Altos logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design project has it’s share of difficulties, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Los Altos book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many cases 1 of the items consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Los Altos logo style utilized for advertising and a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Los Altos, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that conveyed a spirit of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout developed for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct organization logo design fashioned to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a distinctive head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a modified script typeface which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the layout attributes and legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Los Altos logo dsign using an image which pulls in the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo design has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Los Altos area farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this particular company was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to design a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and luxury.
Logo created for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
