Los Gatos, California Logo Design

Virtually every new Los Gatos business person understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully recognize the crucial role their company logo can make in their success, or why one logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and long term influence on the prosperity of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Los Gatos, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Los Gatos, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an old section the city and wished to impart an old-fashioned feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by means of developing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Los Gatos, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in Los Gatos, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Los Gatos, California traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Los Gatos logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Los Gatos logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Los Gatos, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a printed book considering that it is often the initial thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Los Gatos logo layout utilized for marketing and a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Los Gatos, California, layout include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo which projected a spirit of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of making simply a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian horse logo style produced for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original logotype concept fashioned to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having a different head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Logo layout for a software application designer the style features and also iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Los Gatos logo dsign along with a graphic which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really composed for an Los Gatos, California regional farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular brand was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to create an identity that projects esteem, success, and opulence.

Los Gatos Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
