Monrovia, California Logo Design

Each and every new Monrovia business professional knows they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners fully realize the essential role their business logo can make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design works better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term influence on the success of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Monrovia, California companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Monrovia, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually launching in an older section of the city and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of developing a trademark concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Monrovia, California clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a household fun center in Monrovia, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Monrovia, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Monrovia logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Monrovia logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get impartial point of views on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Monrovia, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the traits individuals tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Monrovia logo design used for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Monrovia, California, design include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects because it appears that almost every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which conveyed a sense of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a steed ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind company logo concept tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable equine types in the whole world.

Logo layout for a software programmer the design attributes and also renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Monrovia business logo dsign utilizing a graphic which seizes the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t really designed for an Monrovia, California regional farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this particular brand was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a brand mark that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

Monrovia Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo designed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
