Monterey, California Logo Design

Virtually every new Monterey business person knows they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly comprehend the vital role their company logo will take in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design works far better than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the viability of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Monterey, California companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to posters a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Monterey, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an older part of the community and wished to visualize a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks via developing a sign concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria designed for Monterey, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a household fun facility in Monterey, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Monterey, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Monterey logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Monterey logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective point of views on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how important a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Monterey, California book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a printed book given that it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it looks like that in many instances one of the things people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Monterey logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Monterey, California, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it seems that every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo that conveyed a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the attention on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style functions as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Monterey business logo dsign along with a graphic which captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Monterey, California regional farm it was really created for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate a brand mark that projects esteem, financial success, and wealth.

Monterey Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the proprietor to create a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
