POINTERS FOR DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not refund the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be judged from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual examples chances are they will not be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

National City LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We have undertaken logo design work for farmers, schools, diamond miners, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something that seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the kind of project we undertake, business logo, web page, trade show exhibit, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to agencies located outside the USA. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new National City business realizes that they need a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly understand the essential role their logo will perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term effect on the success of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help National City businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of marking something to ensure that it can be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto animals. These days a brand represents pretty much anything with a motive, whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone says the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of the majority of branding firms you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing agencies. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when a person states “I am in branding”… it simply sounds more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that most individuals don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or business that affect view points. This primarily includes the name, the logo, the product packaging, the different colors utilized however can likewise include audio, lighting, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps form the perception of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting activities, outcomes and also perceptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a National City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an old section of the town and wished to cast a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks via developing a symbol design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for National City clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog developed for a household fun facility in National City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for National City traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  National City logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

National City logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of difficulties, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for National City publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a printed book given that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems like that in many occurrences one of the traits people usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

National City logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Situation includes an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in National City, layout include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a National City hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which related a sense of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept which did not go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique company logo concept styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. With a different head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A National City Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, layout contains a changed script typeface which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a little dining establishment, design consists of a customized script font style which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software program developer the style functions and also famous National City aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo layout developed for a National Cityinterior developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a National City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, explores, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in National City, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word progressed have actually been changed to tie straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This National City logo design job was performed for a management consultant that aids business leaders to develop into more effective at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A National City business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their National City logo design design along with an image which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this National City company logo layout has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really created for an National City regional farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this business logo was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to make an identity that projected self-assurance, success, and opulence.

National City Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a famous National City sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
