POINTERS FOR FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life examples odds are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your personal vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Nipomo LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping business owners grow notable brands. We have done branding work for builders, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have come across online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are retained to perform, we do ourselves. No matter the kind of design project we take on, logo, web site, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to agencies based outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your design project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Nipomo company understands that they probably need a logo, however few new business owners fully understand the key role their logo design can play in their success, or precisely why one logo design performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the financial success of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Nipomo companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something to ensure that it can be identified, its origin originates from the brand burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates pretty much anything with an intention, regardless if it be earnings or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody mentions the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of a lot of branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently rebranded marketing companies. When someone claims they are in marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. But when somebody says “I’m in branding”… it just sounds more impressive, probably it’s because most people do not fully understand what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that defines the visual components of a product or business that influence understandings. This largely consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors utilized but can additionally consist of sound, lights, texture, signs, really anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also build sites and user interfaces. The crucial role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of affecting activities, end results and understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Nipomo coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an old section of town and hoped to visualize a retro feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by designing a sign design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Nipomo medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog created for a household enjoyable center in Nipomo.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for Nipomo traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Nipomo logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Nipomo logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest judgements on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their business logo recognize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of challenges, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Nipomo book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is often the first thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many cases one of the aspects individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Nipomo logo layout used for marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Nipomo, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Nipomo hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that projected an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo design that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the importance on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct organization logo design customized to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. By having a different head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Nipomo Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, design consists of a customized script font which hovers over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application designer the style attributes and legendary Nipomo element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo design developed for a Nipomointerior designer, style function a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Nipomo interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who plans, investigates, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Nipomo, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of the word progressed have been customized to connect straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Nipomo logo design job was performed for a management specialist that aids business professionals to become more effective at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Nipomo business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Nipomo logo design using an image that pulls in the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Nipomo company logo layout has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Nipomo area farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this logo design was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate a graphic that projected trust, success, and opulence.

Nipomo Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the first try.

Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a popular Nipomo sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to create a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
