STRATEGIES ON DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the amount of time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life examples odds are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Orinda LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs grow notable brands. We have undertaken branding work for builders, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you might have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to perform, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we accept, business logo, website design, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s projects to agencies located outside the US. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I do business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Orinda company understands that they require a logo, but few start ups fully recognize the essential role their company logo will perform in their financial success, or why one logo performs more effectively than another. A business logo has a critical and long term effect on the success of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Orinda companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to make sure that it could be recognized, its foundation comes from the brand burned onto livestock. Today a brand signifies practically anything with an intention, whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone says the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded marketing companies. When a person says they are in advertising many people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also build web sites and also user interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results as well as perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Orinda coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of the city and wanted to project a retro vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs via developing a company logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Orinda medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Orinda.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Orinda travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Orinda logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Orinda logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how important a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Orinda publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a printed book because it is often the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many cases 1 of the items consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Orinda logo design utilized for advertising and a tag style for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Orinda, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a Orinda hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which conveyed a sense of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique logo design tailored to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately identifiable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Orinda restaurant logo layout a tiny restaurant, design includes a modified script font style which hovers above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout includes a customized script font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style functions and renowned Orinda component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Develop logo design produced for a Orindainterior designer, style function a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Orinda interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who arranges, researches, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Orinda, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of words advanced have actually been modified to tie directly right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Orinda logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership expert that enables business professionals to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Orinda business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Orinda logo design using an image which grabs the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Orinda company logo layout has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually composed for an Orinda regional farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to create a brand mark that projects self-confidence, success, and luxury.

Orinda Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly encountering arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo developed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned Orinda sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to create a business logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
