Pacifica, California Logo Design

Every new Pacifica business realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully grasp the key role their business logo can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has a critical and long-term influence on the success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Pacifica, California companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Pacifica, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an old part of town and really wanted to visualize a vintage tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by designing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs created for Pacifica, California clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a family fun center in Pacifica, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Pacifica, California traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Pacifica logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Pacifica logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their business logo understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Pacifica, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book because it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items consumers tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to confering a feeling of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Pacifica logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Pacifica, California, style include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it seems that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually enjoy doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that related a feeling of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of creating just a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original business logo concept fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having a distinctive head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable horse lineages in the world.

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout contains a modified script font style which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a little dining establishment, design includes a changed script font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software application designer the layout functions and famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Progress logo design created for a Pacifica, California interior designer, style function a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Pacifica logo design dsign utilizing an image that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t actually created for an Pacifica, California area farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to make a graphic that projected confidence, success, and opulence.

Pacifica Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the owner to design a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
