Pasadena Logo Design

Every new Pasadena organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly realize the pivotal role their logo design can perform in their financial success, or why one business logo functions better than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Pasadena companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Pasadena coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older part of the town and wanted to project a nostalgic vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by creating a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Pasadena clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family fun center in Pasadena.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Pasadena traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Pasadena logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Pasadena logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased opinions on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s share of difficulties, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Pasadena book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a published book because it is often the first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many cases one of the traits individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

Pasadena logo layout used for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Pasadena, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it seems that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which communicated an atmosphere of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of creating just a stylized orchid but instead designed a company logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a changed script font style which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application designer the style attributes as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Pasadena business logo dsign along with a graphic which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually developed for an Pasadena area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to generate a graphic that projects self-confidence, success, and prosperity.
Logo made for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a well-known sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
