Pomona, California Logo Design

Each and every new Pomona business professional realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely grasp the crucial role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and long-term influence on the viability of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Pomona, California companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike created for a Pomona, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an older section of town and wished to visualize a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by means of designing a logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs made for Pomona, California clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Pomona, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Pomona, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Pomona logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Pomona logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo realize how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Pomona, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a printed book since it is often the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many cases 1 of the things people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Pomona logo layout used for advertising and marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Pomona, California, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to summarize specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that carried a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a company logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software application developer the layout attributes as well as legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Pomona business logo dsign with an image which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really created for an Pomona, California area farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to make a brand mark that projects confidence, success, and wealth.

Pomona Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo developed for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is evocative a popular sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
