Port Hueneme Logo Design

Nearly every new Port Hueneme company understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly realize the essential role their business logo will play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and long-term impact on the success of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Port Hueneme businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be realized in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Port Hueneme coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older section of the community and hoped to visualize a retro feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs via developing a business logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Port Hueneme medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog created for a family members fun center in Port Hueneme.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - made for Port Hueneme travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Port Hueneme logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Port Hueneme logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial point of views on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Port Hueneme publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a published book since it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many cases one of the aspects individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Port Hueneme logo layout utilized for marketing and a tag style for Vintage Instance features an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Port Hueneme, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it seems that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which conveyed a feeling of contentment and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is generally the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the attention on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo design for a software program programmer the design attributes and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Port Hueneme business logo dsign utilizing an illustration which captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really produced for an Port Hueneme regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to create a brand mark that projected esteem, success, and opulence.
Logo created for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
