Redding, California Logo Design

Virtually every new Redding organization knows they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely realize the key role their organization’s logo can make in their success, or exactly why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the growth of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Redding, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Redding, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of the area and wished to visualize a retro atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by means of designing a sign design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria created for Redding, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the laboratory examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun center in Redding, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Redding, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Redding logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Redding logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Redding, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a published book considering that it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many cases one of the things people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Redding logo style used for advertising and a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Redding, California, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most challenging logo projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that communicated an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo style for a software developer the layout functions and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Redding business logo dsign along with an illustration that captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really developed for an Redding, California area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this creative logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Redding Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design designed for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
