STRATEGIES FOR PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature actual examples chances are they will not be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Riverbank LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners cultivate unforgettable brands. We have performed branding work for builders, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are enlisted to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the type of design project we undertake, brand identity design, business website, trade show exhibition, or retail sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s work to agencies based outside the US. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your design project and dictates the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Every new Riverbank company realizes that they need a logo, however few new business owners fully realize the crucial role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long term impact on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Riverbank businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of marking something to ensure that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the brand burned onto livestock. Today a brand signifies pretty much anything with an intention, whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person states the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the beginning of many branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded advertising and marketing agencies. When someone says they are in marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some identity designers also design websites and also software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, end results and understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Riverbank coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old section of the city and hoped to project an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by designing a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Riverbank medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Riverbank.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Riverbank travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Riverbank logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Riverbank logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Riverbank publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a published book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the items folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Riverbank logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Case features an old typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Riverbank, layout include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a Riverbank hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which communicated a sense of calmness and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout developed for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original organization logo design fashioned to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an identifiable head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Riverbank restaurant logo layout a small dining establishment, style consists of a changed script font which floats above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little restaurant, design consists of a changed script font which hovers over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program programmer the style attributes as well as iconic Riverbank element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Develop logo design produced for a Riverbankinterior developer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Riverbank interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who arranges, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Riverbank, the characters for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been modified to connect straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Riverbank logo design assignment was performed for a leadership coach that enables business leaders to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Riverbank business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Riverbank logo design design along with a graphic that captures the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Riverbank company logo design has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Riverbank area farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to generate a graphic that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

Riverbank Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for externally facing arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a popular Riverbank sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to create a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
