Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Developing a brand identity or a custom logo design that is both unforgettable and expresses the story about who you are or what you do is a monumental job. The challenge is to come up with a design that is simplistic enough to be comprehended at a glimpse and imparts enough relevant information that it can express who you are. But no logo can truly tell your story or summarize your business, and travelling down that road frequently makes for a brand identity design that does neither. But, in experienced hands, it is possible to strike a balance between the two and design a logo that both informs and emotes and hitting that sweet spot is what your business should wish for from their brand identity designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am an independent branding professional. For over two decades I have been designing memorable logos and brand identity designs that tell stories and resonate with clients. However don’t take my word for it, check out my work and discover for yourself. I don’t claim that I’m the best logo designer in the world, but, I do know what Iam doing and my clients are inclined to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often stated with such vehemence by individuals operating in the branding industry, that one ought to wonder why so many people in branding firms despise logos as much as they appear to. It is definitely true that your logo is not your business’s brand, however what does that mean for a brand that has no logo? One thing is certain, it ensures that a brand with no logo will be faceless and quickly forgotten.

Without a visual identity, an organization’s brand is really nothing more than a fading memory because people would have nothing to anchor their experiences too.

Some compare a business’s logo to a smile or a handshake which is slightly accurate, however it’s actually much more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also acts as the cornerstone of an organization’s brand image. A logo serves as an anchor because the entire brand experience is anchored to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, because a cornerstone is the first stone laid when constructing the foundation of the structure above it, and once laid it will serve as the guiding reference point for every thing that comes after it. A logo serves in the same way, it is a foundational element that supports the business it represents, and it continuously serves as a reference that helps guide a brand as it develops.

ImageCo is a visual branding firm and our objective is to aid our clients lay that cornerstone and drop that anchor. We help organizations look more established, more refined, and more knowledgeable. This ensures that our clients will always be taken seriously, and are not only worthy of a seat at the table, but look like they should be seated at the head of that table.

Rowland Heights LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We have done brand identity design work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, diners, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might possibly have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to perform, we do in-house. No matter the kind of design project we accept, logo, website design, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s work to organizations based outside the United States. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your project and dictates the terms of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Rowland Heights company realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly realize the pivotal role their logo design can make in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design works far better than another. A logo has an instant and lasting effect on the growth of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Rowland Heights companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t need consideration, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something to ensure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand indicates pretty much anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce an image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone says the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When somebody says they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when someone claims “I am in branding”… it just sounds much more impressive, perhaps it’s since most individuals don’t know what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual components of a product or company that influence view points. This primarily consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the colors used however can likewise include sound, lights, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some visual designers also develop sites and software interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results as well as understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Rowland Heights coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an older section of the town and hoped to cast an old-fashioned tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via creating a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Rowland Heights clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable center in Rowland Heights.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Rowland Heights traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Rowland Heights logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Rowland Heights logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest opinions on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Rowland Heights publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the things individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Rowland Heights logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Rowland Heights, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that every single dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a Rowland Heights hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that projected an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a business logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout created for an equine ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original business logo concept styled to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With an identifiable head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily identifiable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Rowland Heights Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, style includes a changed script typeface which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, style includes a customized script font style which hovers above a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout attributes and legendary Rowland Heights component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Evolve logo design created for a Rowland Heightsinterior developer, layout feature a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Rowland Heights interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who prepares, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Rowland Heights, the characters for letter V and A in center of words advanced have actually been customized to connect directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Rowland Heights logo design project was carried out for a leadership advisor that helps business leaders to develop into more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Rowland Heights business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Rowland Heights business logo design with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Rowland Heights company logo design has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t really developed for an Rowland Heights regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to develop a graphic that projects assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Rowland Heights Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a famous Rowland Heights sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the business owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
