Rubidoux Logo Design

Every new Rubidoux organization knows they require a logo, but few new business owners fully comprehend the crucial role their business logo will take in their success, or why one logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting effect on the success of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Rubidoux companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be realized in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Rubidoux coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an older part of town and wanted to visualize a vintage atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by designing a trademark design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Rubidoux clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Rubidoux.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Rubidoux traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Rubidoux logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Rubidoux logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of challenges, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Rubidoux book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the things consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was definitely a success.

Rubidoux logo design utilized for advertising and also a tag design for Vintage Situation features an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Rubidoux, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it seems that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which carried a sense of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software program programmer the layout functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Rubidoux logo dsign with a graphic which captures the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really developed for an Rubidoux area farm it was really created for an investments broker, and this logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce a image that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
