Santee, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Santee business person understands that they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the crucial role their logo will take in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design works more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the growth of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Santee, California companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Santee, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an old part of the community and hoped to impart an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by developing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is an ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Santee, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Santee, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Santee, California travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Santee logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Santee logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo realize how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Santee, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most essential part of a published book because it is usually the first thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many instances one of the traits folks usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

Santee logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Situation features an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Santee, California, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which conveyed a sense of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo style for a software program programmer the layout attributes and legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Santee logo design dsign using an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really developed for an Santee, California regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to make a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and prosperity.

Santee Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
