TIPS FOR SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life samples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Seal Beach LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We have undertaken branding work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, restaurants, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have come across in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the type of project we take on, business logo, website design, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s work to organizations based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Seal Beach entrepreneur understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners fully recognize the vital role their logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo works better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term influence on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Seal Beach companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of marking something so that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand represents practically anything with a motive, regardless if it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are both from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a target audience, it’s goal is to produce a mental image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone says the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals purchase specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the history of many branding agencies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded advertising and marketing companies. When someone states they are in advertising lots of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone says “I am in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, maybe it’s due to the fact that lots of people don’t recognize what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence understandings. This mostly includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used yet can additionally include audio, lights, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also build websites and user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, outcomes and also understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Seal Beach coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an old part of the area and wished to visualize an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via developing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria designed for Seal Beach clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable center in Seal Beach.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Seal Beach travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Seal Beach logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Seal Beach logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their business logo comprehend how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s portion of challenges, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Seal Beach book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book since it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the traits people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Seal Beach logo design used for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Seal Beach, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Seal Beach hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that carried a sense of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is generally the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo style produced for a steed ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original creative logo design customized to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having a different head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Seal Beach Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design includes a changed manuscript typeface which floats over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a small restaurant, layout includes a modified script typeface which hovers over a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software program designer the style functions as well as famous Seal Beach component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Evolve logo layout produced for a Seal Beachindoor designer, layout attribute a series of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Seal Beach interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, investigates, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Seal Beach, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of the word progressed have been modified to link straight right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Seal Beach logo design assignment was undertaken for a management guide that aids business professionals to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Seal Beach business logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Seal Beach logo design design utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Seal Beach company logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Seal Beach area farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce an identity that projected esteem, success, and prosperity.

Seal Beach Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design designed for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a popular Seal Beach sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
