STRATEGIES ON DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain actual examples odds are they will not be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your personal vision for your business. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Silver Lake LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds grow memorable brand identities. We’ve performed brand design work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee roasters, retailers, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have come across in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to perform, we perform in-house. Irrespective of the kind of project we undertake, logo, website, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s work to 3rd parties based outside the USA. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Silver Lake entrepreneur realizes that they need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly recognize the crucial role their company logo will make in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo performs far better than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Silver Lake businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and the act of marking something to make sure that it could be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto animals. Today a brand signifies virtually anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to create an image that the target market will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody mentions the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing companies. When someone claims they are in marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when someone says “I’m in branding”… it simply seems much more attractive, probably it’s because lots of people do not recognize what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual components of a product or company that affect perceptions. This mostly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used yet can likewise consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a type of visual design which helps form the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites and also software interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results and perceptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Silver Lake coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old section of town and hoped to cast a vintage vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs by designing a logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs developed for Silver Lake clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family fun facility in Silver Lake.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Silver Lake traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Silver Lake logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Silver Lake logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo understand how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of difficulties, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Silver Lake book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a printed book since it is usually the first thing a person views in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Silver Lake logo layout utilized for advertising and a label style for Vintage Situation includes an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Silver Lake, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a Silver Lake hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which carried an atmosphere of contentment and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a company logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo style created for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique logotype design tailored to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Silver Lake restaurant logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a changed script typeface which hovers above a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized script font style which floats above a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the style functions as well as famous Silver Lake element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Progress logo design produced for a Silver Lakeindoor designer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Silver Lake interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Silver Lake, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been modified to link straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Silver Lake logo design project was completed for a management consultant that enables business leaders to develop into more successful at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Silver Lake business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Silver Lake logo design using an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Silver Lake company logo design has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really composed for an Silver Lake area farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to develop an identity that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Silver Lake Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned Silver Lake sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
