Simi Valley, California Logo Design

Each and every new Simi Valley company understands that they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the pivotal role their logo can play in their success, or exactly why one logo performs far better than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the growth of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Simi Valley, California companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand consideration, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Simi Valley, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an old section of the town and wanted to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by developing a sign design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Simi Valley, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Simi Valley, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Simi Valley, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Simi Valley logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Simi Valley logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral assessments on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s share of hurdles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Simi Valley, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the aspects people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Simi Valley logo style used for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Simi Valley, California, style include an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually really love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that conveyed a feeling of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a business logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design developed for an equine ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original company logo design styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. With an identifiable head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript font which floats over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a small dining establishment, layout contains a changed script typeface which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software program developer the style features and legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Simi Valley logo dsign with an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really composed for an Simi Valley, California regional farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this particular trademark was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to design a brand mark that projects confidence, success, and affluence.

Simi Valley Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo made for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
