Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Creating a brand identity or a custom logo design that is both unforgettable and expresses the story about who you are or what you do is a herculean endeavor. The difficulty is to make a design concept which is simplistic enough to be comprehended at a glance and imparts enough information that it can articulate who you are. But no logo design can absolutely tell your story or explain your organization, and going down that path often produces a brand identity design that does neither. But, in experienced hands, it is possible to strike a balance between both and create a brand identity that both informs and emotes and hitting that sweet spot is what every business should wish for from their logo designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am an independent branding professional. For over 20 years I have been creating unforgettable logos and brand identity designs that tell stories and resonate with audiences. However don’t take my word for it, just check out my work and see for yourself. I don’t claim that I’m the greatest logo designer in the world, but, I do know what I’m doing and my customers tend to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often stated with such emphasis by people operating in the branding industry, that one might question why so many people in branding firms despise logos as much as they seem to. It is definitely true that your logo is not your business’s brand, however what does that mean for a business that has no logo? One thing is quite certain, it all but guarantees that a brand with no logo will be faceless and forgettable.

Without a visual identity, a business’s brand is really nothing more than a fading memory because people would have virtually nothing to anchor their experiences too.

Some compare a logo to a smile or a handshake which is somewhat true, however it’s also far more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also acts as the cornerstone of an organization’s brand. A logo functions as an anchor because the entire brand experience is anchored to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, since a cornerstone is the first stone laid when building the foundation of the structure above it, and once it is laid it will serve as the guiding reference point for every stone that comes after it. A logo functions in the same way, it is a foundational element that supports the business it represents, and it also serves as a reference that guides a brand as it develops.

ImageCo is a visual branding firm and our objective is to help our clients lay that cornerstone and drop that anchor. We help companies look established, more polished, and more professional. This ensures that our clients will always stand out, and are not only worthy of a seat at the table, but look like they ought to be seated at the head of that table.

South El Monte LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds cultivate notable brands. We have undertaken logo design work for mechanics, schools, diamond miners, party planners, diners, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have encountered online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are enlisted to do, we perform in-house. No matter the type of project we undertake, business logo, website, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s projects to agencies located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your design project and imposes the terms of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new South El Monte entrepreneur realizes that they probably need a logo, however few start ups entirely realize the crucial role their logo design will make in their success, or the reason that one business logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting effect on the prosperity of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help South El Monte businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something so that it can be distinguished, its origin originates from the brand branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates practically anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody says the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of most branding firms you’ll discover that they are often rebranded marketing agencies. When someone says they are in marketing many people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when somebody states “I am in branding”… it simply seems much more impressive, maybe it’s since lots of people do not understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual elements of a product or agency that influence understandings. This largely includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the colors used however can likewise consist of audio, illumination, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps form the public image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop web sites and also software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, outcomes and also perceptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a South El Monte coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening up in an old part of the town and hoped to project a vintage tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by means of developing a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for South El Monte clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in South El Monte.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for South El Monte travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  South El Monte logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

South El Monte logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo realize how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for South El Monte book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a published book since it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it looks like that in many instances one of the items individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was definitely a victory.

South El Monte logo layout utilized for marketing and a label layout for Vintage Case features an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in South El Monte, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects because it seems that every single dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a South El Monte hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that carried an atmosphere of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of making merely a stylized orchid but instead created a logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original logo design customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a different head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A South El Monte Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, layout consists of a customized script font style which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, style includes a modified script typeface which floats above a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software programmer the style attributes and also famous South El Monte element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Progress logo layout produced for a South El Monteindoor developer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a South El Monte interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, explores, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location evaluations, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in South El Monte, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have been customized to link straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This South El Monte logo design project was performed for a management consultant that assists business leaders to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A South El Monte business logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their South El Monte logo design design with an illustration that seizes the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this South El Monte company logo design has an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually composed for an South El Monte regional farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to make a graphic that projected trust, success, and opulence.

South El Monte Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known South El Monte sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
