POINTERS ON DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they will never be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Suisun LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs grow memorable brands. We’ve undertaken branding work for mechanics, schools, diamond miners, party planners, cafes, retailers, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to do, we perform ourselves. No matter the kind of design project we take on, business logo, web site, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to companies located outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the price of your design project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Suisun organization understands that they need a logo, however few start ups fully understand the essential role their logo design will perform in their success, or the reason that one logo design performs better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long-term influence on the success of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Suisun companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of marking something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto livestock. Today a brand represents pretty much anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are both from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the names Porsche or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing and advertising agencies. When somebody says they are in advertising most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the perception of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also build web sites and software interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, end results and perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Suisun coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an old part of town and hoped to project a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by developing a business logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and germs developed for Suisun medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Suisun.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - made for Suisun traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Suisun logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Suisun logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of challenges, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Suisun publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book given that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many cases 1 of the traits consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Suisun logo design used for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Suisun, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style created for a Suisun hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which communicated a sense of tranquility and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious direction of making merely a stylized orchid but instead created a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian horse logo layout created for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct logo concept styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having an unique head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Suisun restaurant logo layout a tiny restaurant, design contains a modified script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a small restaurant, layout includes a modified script font which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the design features as well as renowned Suisun element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Evolve logo design produced for a Suisunindoor developer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Suisun interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who plans, researches, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Suisun, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have actually been changed to link directly right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Suisun logo design project was carried out for a management expert that aids business leaders to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Suisun business logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Suisun logo design design with an illustration which pulls in the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Suisun company logo layout has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Suisun regional farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to make a graphic that projects self-confidence, effectiveness, and opulence.

Suisun Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular Suisun sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
