Sunnyvale, California Logo Design

Every new Sunnyvale company knows they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely are aware of the key role their business logo can play in their financial success, or why one logo design works far better than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Sunnyvale, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Sunnyvale, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old section of the area and wished to cast a retro tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both jobs via developing a sign concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Sunnyvale, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable center in Sunnyvale, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Sunnyvale, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead project emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Sunnyvale logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Sunnyvale logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral judgements on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Sunnyvale, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many instances one of the traits folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Sunnyvale logo layout used for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Situation includes an old typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Sunnyvale, California, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it seems that almost every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually really love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that projected a feeling of relaxation and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but rather crafted a company logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian steed logo design created for a steed ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, design consists of a changed script font style which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software program programmer the style functions and legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Sunnyvale business logo dsign using an image which seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually designed for an Sunnyvale, California regional farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to design a brand mark that projected esteem, financial success, and prosperity.

Sunnyvale Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
