Torrance, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Torrance business knows they require a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly comprehend the key role their company logo will perform in their success, or the reason that one logo design works more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term effect on the viability of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Torrance, California companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.
Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Torrance, California coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an old section of the area and hoped to project a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the jobs via developing a logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Torrance, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog created for a household fun center in Torrance, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Torrance, California traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Torrance logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Torrance logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective assessments on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Torrance, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it looks like that in many occurrences one of the traits consumers tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Torrance logo style used for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Torrance, California, design include an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which related a feeling of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style produced for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique business logo concept tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. With an identifiable head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately identifiable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a changed script font which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, style includes a customized manuscript typeface which floats over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the design features as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Torrance logo dsign along with an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Torrance, California area farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular trademark was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to generate a image that projects confidence, success, and affluence.

Torrance Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design developed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a renowned sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
