Torrance, California Logo Design

Every new Torrance company knows they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely are aware of the essential role their organization logo can perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo functions better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term effect on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Torrance, California companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Torrance, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an old part of town and really wanted to cast a vintage tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by creating a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and germs developed for Torrance, California medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Torrance, California.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Torrance, California traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Torrance logo design but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Torrance logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest judgements on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s share of obstacles, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Torrance, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a printed book since it is often the first thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the items individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Torrance logo style utilized for marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Situation features an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Torrance, California, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that almost every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair layout studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which carried an atmosphere of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious route of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is frequently the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software developer the layout features and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Torrance business logo dsign using an illustration which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Torrance, California area farm it was really developed for an investments broker, and this particular brand was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce a brand mark that projected esteem, effectiveness, and luxury.

Torrance Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style feature for outwardly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a popular sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
